Had a good days hang gliding in Summer in Lanzarote. On Saturday 28th of July flew from the lower Famara take off.
Conditions were good with nice cumulus clouds forming, good visibility but wind a little off to the right. Wind was picking up as day went on. True wind speed when in air was 35kmh but on take off probably closer to 40kmh with compression.
Air was smooth but thermic. Went straight up after take off. Most clouds were forming around take off area with less further along ridge. Cloud base was raising and lowering a few hundred meters every hour depending on humid air masses drifting through. Once in the air it was nice flying. Thermals were weak and small but manageable. Got to cloud base over the electricity pylon, the flew forward and over to the higher take off. The clouds on the cliffs behind beach lowered again so just flew around lower and higher take off.
Was a little concerned about landing back on top by the car because of wind strength. Came in behind take off with around 100 meters but lost this easily due to strong winds and weak thermals. Landed on top with no problems. All in all a really nice flight. Similar weather forecast for tomorrow so will wait and see.
